What is A Carbon Facial?

Carbon facial is a non-invasive procedure wherein a layer of
liquid carbon is applied on the face followed by a carbon laser procedure to
blaze away the carbon particles. The carbon attracts any possible impurities
and contaminants from the face. Since the laser blasts away the carbon
particles, all the impurities attracted to carbon particles also get swayed
away along with carbon. This leaves the skin free from dirt, oil, dead cells,
and blackheads. The process tackles all the wrinkles and fine lines on the
face. The skin becomes more glowing and radiant.

How is A Carbon Facial Done?

To start with, liquid carbon paste is applied on the face that
gets absorbed by the upper layers of the skin. The paste is then allowed to
dry. The carbon paste retaliates with the pores on the face and dislodges the
blackheads and whiteheads. This carbon paste is then pulled away with a carbon
laser procedure. The laser reaches the deeper layers of skin and causes
dermabrasion of the elastin and collagen fibres. The fibres get stirred up,
they repair themselves and thereby improve the skin texture. The oil and dirt
particles get blasted away along with the carbon.

The enlarged pores get tightened. There will be visible
reduction in blackheads, whiteheads and acne scars.  The skin becomes more robust and ravishing.
Wrinkles and fine facial lines are decreased, thereby improving the contexture
of the skin. Collagen production is increased which results in retaining the
elasticity of the skin. It also exfoliates the skin.

Ayurveda & Skin Care

Ayurveda apprehends the fact that a healthy lifestyle and
skincare routine is the primary predisposing factor towards a perfect skin.
Further, Ayurveda emphasizes that true beauty comes from within. For that
reason, Ayurvedic skin care prioritizes balancing the whole body with a healthy
diet and lifestyle regime and detoxifying each individual as per their specific
doshic constitution. Holistic skin care management is what our skin demands so
as to retain the natural calm and charm.

Prevalence of Doshas & Dhatus in Skin Care

According to Ayurveda, skin youthfulness depends on a wide
array of factors. Vata regulates the
flow of nutrients to different layers of the skin. It also aids in proper blood
circulation to the various layers. Pitta
regulates the metabolic functions and synchronises the chemical and hormonal
reactions in skin. Kapha regulates
the moisture content, thereby supplementing the robustness of the skin. Hence
the overall equilibrium of all the three
doshas is essential towards a healthy skin.

Added to it is the contribution of Dhatus. Mamsa Dhatu plays
a vital role in providing structural support to the skin, thereby keeping the
skin firm and taut. Rasa Dhatu
provides nutrition to the skin tissues and keeps the skin supple and graceful. Rakta Dhatu aids in detoxification of
the skin.

Skin Types & Skin Care

1. Vata Skin

Vata
predominant skin emulates the qualities of air and ether. When the Vata dosha is balanced, the skin has an
olive tone, is dry and cool. When dosha
gets deranged, the skin is highly susceptible to premature aging and wrinkling.
Hence Ayurvedic therapies that hydrate and nourish the skin are highly
recommended. Warm oil massages using Coconut oil, Olive oil, Jojoba oil, etc.
enhances the suppleness of the skin and restores the moisture content. Natural
skin moisturizers that are rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin E are also of great
help.

Avoid cold foods. Eat well spiced, warm foods that include
herbs like cumin, nutmeg, turmeric etc. Warm baths with essential oils like
lavender, sandalwood, etc also reinvigorate the skin.

2. Pitta Skin

Pitta
predominant skin emulates the qualities of fire and water elements. When the Pitha dosha is balanced, skin has a rosy
glow,  is intricate, slightly warm and is
more prone to freckles and beauty marks. When dosha gets deranged, the skin becomes prone to inflammation,
redness, blemishes and becomes excessively oily. Hence, Pitta skin care should incorporate calming
herbs that are soothing and cooling in nature.

Avoid oily foods, alcohol and caffeine. Include more cold herbs
like coriander, fennel, cumin, etc. in the diet. Skin must be protected from
sunlight and other tanning procedures. Use of sunscreens and other protective
herbal oils are advocated. Aloe Vera gel is a natural sunscreen that is widely
used.

3. Kapha Skin

Kapha
predominant skin emulates the qualities of water and earth elements. When the Kapha dosha is balanced, the skin appears
supple, cool, soft and moist. Deranged Kapha
dosha can cause excess oily skin with associated cystic acne and large
pores. Kapha predominant skin also
has a profuse amount of collagen fibres that keeps wrinkles at bay. Hence the Kapha skin care should include
astringent and detoxifying herbs that can bring an ideal balance to Kapha dosha.

Try to avoid fried foods, sugars and dairy products as they may
congest the skin. Include more pungent and dry herbs like black pepper,
cinnamon, etc. in the diet. Drink detox drinks in the morning. Do cardio
workouts.
