Vyoshadi Vatakam (Vati)

Vyoshadi Vatakam (also called Vyoshadi Vati & Vyoshadi Gutika) is an effective ayurvedic medicine used for respiratory and digestive disorders. It is in tablet or granules form. It is main medicine for the common cold in Ayurveda and is really helpful for relieving nasal inflammation, discharge, congestion and irritation. It is also useful in allergic rhinitis, sneezing, cough, and breathing troubles (asthma). It improves appetite and increases the desire to eat, so it can also be given in cases of anorexia. This medicine is prepared from various herbs such as dry ginger powder, Black Pepper, long pepper which are traditionally used for treating common cold.

Ingredients

12 grams of each of:-

  • Vyosha – Trikatu – (Pepper – Piper nigrum, Long pepper – Piper longum and Ginger – Zingiber officinalis)
  • Amlavetasa – Solena amplexicaulis
  • Chavya – Piper chaba
  • Talisa – Abies webbiana
  • Chitraka – Plumbago zeylanica
  • Cumin – Cuminum cyminum
  • Tintideeka – Rhus parviflora

9 grams of each of:-

  • Cinnamon – Cinnamomum zeylanicum
  • Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum
  • Patra – Cinnamomum tamala
  • Jaggery – 960 grams

How to Make?

All the above ingredients are triturated in jaggery base to prepare tablets or granules.

Medicinal Properties

Vyoshadi Vatakam is a classical formulation possessing properties to maintain the Kapha and Vata balanced. It is having decongestant, Bronchodilator, Antitussive, Antiviral, Antibacterial, Anti-allergic, Appetizer, Digestive, Stimulant properties that help a lot in healing concerned diseases.

This Ayurvedic medicine is very useful in degrading the symptoms of common cold, it reduces inflammation and relieves irritation of the nasal mucosa, controls the running nose and has relieving results in acute and chronic rhinitis. Its antibacterial action is very helpful in sinusitis, lessens the infection and inflammation of the tissue lining of the sinuses. It is effective in sore throat, breathing problems, and have beneficial effects in other respiratory diseases too.

It is useful medicine to improve digestion and has operative action in case of anorexia, enhances the appetite. It is also effective in diminishing tastelessness of the mouth.

Dosage

3 – 6 grams once or two times a day after food or before food, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

It is administered along with honey or warm water.

Side Effects

There are no known side effects of this product. In very high doses, it may worsen gastritis.
