Nimbadi Churna

Introduction

Nimbadi Churna is an ayurvedic formulation that is prepared from the mixture of various herbs. The nimba word in the Churna refers neem. Neem is the main herb of the formulation. Neem is known for its antiseptic properties.

Ingredients

  • Nimba – Azadirachta indicca
  • Amalaki – Phyllanthus emblica
  • Amruta – Tinospora cordifolia
  • Somaraji – Psoralea corylifolia
  • Abhaya – Terminalia chebula
  • Vidanga – Embelia ribes
  • Shunti – Ginger
  • Haridra – Curcuma longa
  • Daruharidra – Berberis aristata
  • Ugragandha – Acorus calamus
  • Jiraka – Cuminum cyminum
  • Yava – Hordeum vulgare
  • Edagaja Cassia tora
  • Kushta – Saussurea lappa
  • Katuka – Picrorrhiza kurroa
  • Long pepper – Piper longum
  • Yavani – Trachyspermum ammi
  • Mustaka – Cyperus rotundus
  • Khadira – Acacia catechu
  • Devadaru – Cedrus deodara
  • Saindhava Lavana – Rock salt

Method of Preparation

Take all the herbs in an appropriate quantity. Take amruta, abhaya, nimba, somaraji and amalaki up to 48 grams. All other ingredients up to 12 grams.

Now powder all the herbs and mix to form Churna.

Dose

One to three grams with Giloy decoction/water/honey, before or after the meals.

Contraindications
