Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Good Morning

Interviewer: These days people taking more junk food and eating outside and people are prone to hepatitis. So what is this hepatitis?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Actually, hepatitis is the swelling of liver like any other organ comes swollen or painful.

Interviewer: Is it some virus attack or just an inflammation?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: It is an inflammation caused by anything. It can be due to virus, toxins, internal injury, it can be internal toxins. There are so many reasons and liver swelling is technically called hepatitis. It is of different types.

Interviewer: So their causes may be many and not only junk food eating or eating outside.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Not only junk food, etc. There are different types of hepatitis and liver disorders. Every liver disease has separate cause; junk food eating is mostly related to fatty liver. But there are other causes.

Interviewer: What are the main causes of hepatitis?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: There are many different causes of hepatitis as it is of many different types. Like Hepatitis A, B, C, D, E, F & G, Hepatitis A have different causes. It is caused by the unhygienic food and through which virus attacks the liver and main symptom is jaundice.

Interviewer: Ok, jaundice which cause pale ness of skin, eyes etc.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Yes, it is which is mainly caused due to increased bilirubin levels. Second type of hepatitis is type B. It is very common and very dangerous too. Its mode of spreading is through needles. These needles when used unsterilized or in unhygienic condition they become one of the cause. Blood transfusion is also one cause and it is also sexually transmitted. Also with tattoo machines and even through dialysis machine, it can spread.

Interviewer: Hepatitis A, B and C are very common these days. So after the causes and the symptoms I want to know is there any cure for this through herbal medicines.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Hepatitis A is not very difficult to treat as the patient is asked to do the rest. And herbs we use are Phyllanthus, Andrographis paniculata, Punarnava. These are common Indian herbs.

Interviewer: So it’s easy to cure hepatitis A but hepatitis b is very difficult to cure or is it possible to cure?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Yes, it is possible to cure hepatitis b in some cases. I want to show you some common herbs. I usually come here in the morning for walk and I see these common herbs.

Interviewer: So that’s why you called me here?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: This is the herb I want to show you. It is called Phyllanthus niruri or Bhumiamalaki. It has small fruits. It is in abundance here. It is a wonderful herb and it can cure hepatitis B and another type of hepatitis even in cases of liver cirrhosis, which is a liver failure and liver transplant is the only cure but in ayurveda we have cured such cases too.

Interviewer: So with such general herbs it is possible?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: yeah, it is, there are 2-3 herbs I want to show.

Interviewer: Please tell us more about Bhumiamalaki?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: This Bhumiamalaki is very common and also used for liver detox, in fatty liver too. Every day we can use it. Juice is very useful. Its whole plant is used. We use it in Yakrit Plihantak Churna and this Churna shows very great results from the first day and within a few days you see jaundice goes away and viral load comes down drastically. Bloating goes away and even patient having ascites where there is distention of the abdomen due to fluid.

Interviewer: So ascites can also be cured with this.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Yeah for this, I use Bhumiamalaki and Punarnava. It is also here. I want to show this too.so this is Punarnava. It is white variety of Punarnava and another one is red one it called bohervia diffusa, and its common name is hog weed. It’s very common in fields.so using these herbs we have come up with yakritplihantak Churna. And it is giving very good result in liver cirrhosis, liver failure, and ascites.

Interviewer: So how much time it takes to cure hepatitis B through herbs?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Hepatitis B takes about 6-9 months but if case is very serious then it can take 1 to 1.5 yrs. but it is possible to cure it.

Interviewer: Is the treatment is very costly in ayurveda?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: As these herbs are grown in nature and not very expensive and should be procured from wild non polluted areas like Himalayan areas.

Interviewer: Other than these Punarnava and Bhumiamalaki, are there other herbs available for such issues?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: These are growing here, but there are many herbs as like Andrographis paniculata and many more which we are using for medicinal preparation. As I am not using single medicine there are many medicinal preparations are used.

Interviewer: So for other herbs, are there any products available with you?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: The main product I am talking about is Yakrit Plihantak Churna and using it with other combinations. Main thing is that we can cure hepatitis.

Interviewer: So ayurveda have very good results and provides good results in all hepatitis.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Yes it has very good results, in all sorts of hepatitis, liver disorders, fatty liver gets cured with in one month only, hept. A within 15-20 days and B and C are complexed and takes about 6 to 12 months.
