Amalaki Churna

Introduction

Amalaki churna is a powdered herbal formulation made from Amla/ Indian gooseberry and has countless benefits to offer. It has a sour taste primarily and usually sour things aggravate pitta but Indian gooseberry helps in balancing it. It helps in preventing premature aging, boosting immunity. Amla also helps in strengthening the body along with enhancing body’s defense mechanism. This powdered herbal formulation has anti-inflammatory properties, acts as a diuretic and is very rich in Vitamin C.

Ingredients

  • Indian gooseberry fruit
  • Indian gooseberry juice
  • Honey
  • Sugar
  • Clarified butter

Method of Preparation

Clean and grind amla to form a powder and soak it in Amla juice for a period of 21 days and nights. Mix it with clarified butter and honey and add Long pepper and fine sugar to it. This preparation should be kept in a jar greased with clarified butter and stored in early rains beneath a heap of ashes. After the rainy season is over, this formulation can be used.

Contraindications

  • It is a coolant, so if you’re taking just Amla powder or fruit only then it might worsen your condition if you’re suffering from cold and cough.
  • Over dosage might cause dryness.
  • It can be safely used during pregnancy and lactation and even in children.
