AYASKRITI – INGREDIENTS, INDICATIONS, USES AND BENEFITS

INTRODUCTION

Ayaskriti is an Ayurvedic liquid formulation. This herbal formulation is used in treating diabetes, piles, leucoderma, skin diseases, anorexia, worm infestation, anemia, sprue and obesity. Iron is the main ingredient of Ayaskriti. The word Ayas means iron in Sanskrit.

BENEFITS OF INGREDIENTS

  1. Asnadi Gana – Asnadi gana is a group of 23 herbs which has been described in Ashtang Hrudya under Shodhanadigana adhyaya. These herbs have anti-inflammatory action on our body. They also have ant diabetic properties, thus helps to regulate the increased level of glucose in the blood. These herbs are mainly used in treating leprosy, worm infestation jaundice, diabetes and obesity.
  2. Vatasakdi Gana – Vataskadi gana includes 20 herbs which pacify vata and kapha dosha in the body. This group of herbs is also described in Ashtang Hrudya under Shodanadigana adhyaya. These herbs are advised in the treatment of obesity, fever, piles and digestive disorders. Panchkola is also included in this group of herbs hence quite useful in treating digestive system disorders such as anorexia, stomach pain and indigestion.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

First of all decoction is prepared with asnadi gana (A group of herbs explained under asnadi gana) and they are boiled untill reduced to ¼. The remaining decoction is filtered and honey and jaggery are added to this mixture. After that, vatsakdi herbs are taken and paste is made, which are added to decoction later on. This mixture is transferred into a mud vessel which is smeared with pippali powder, honey and ghee. Then this mud vessel is sealed properly and kept undisturbed for 15 days. The sheets of iron are taken and infused in this mud vessel till these sheets are dissolved in the mixture. After complete decomposition of iron sheets, Ayaskriti is preserved in jars for use.

USES AND BENEFITS OF AYASKRITI

  • This herbal formulation is piercing in nature and is helpful in treating obesity. Iron is the main content of this formulation which is lipolytic in nature. It helps in the breakdown of fat cells and removes their excess deposition in the body.
  • Ayskriti is rich in iron due to its iron content thus useful in treating iron-deficiency anaemia. It also helps to relieve symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, constipation occurring due to anaemia.
  • Ayskriti is also used in treating Kaphaj type of ascites due to its piercing nature. It is also beneficial in anorexia and indigestion

DOSAGE

12 to 25 ml once or twice daily as advised by physician
