Guduchi Satva

Introduction

Guduchi Satva is a classical formulation that keeps the Vata and Pitta Dosha in balance. It is prepared using the stem part of plant called Indian Tinospora used in Ayurvedic treatment for burning sensation of feet, bleeding diseases etc. It is also known as Giloy Sat, Amrita Satva and Giloy Satwa.

Ingredients

  • Guduchi (Indian Tinospora) (Tinospora cordifolia) – Stem – 50 grams
  • Water – 200 ml

Method of Preparation

Giloy stems are cut into small pieces around 2 to 3 inch length and its outer husk is removed in case needed. Then this is crushed and soaked in water. 5-6 times. Its small crushed pieces are softened well in the water using hands. This results in release of starchy material of Guduchi into the water.

Then its fibrous and woody parts are detached from the vessel and the liquid is kept untouched, allowing the starchy particles to settle down at the bottom.

The water that gets stable above is cautiously transferred out without disturbing the starch sediment. Then the starch sediment is washed with slight amount of water and completely dried in shade and collected.

It is stockpiled in moist and air-tight glass containers. A white powder is obtained which is finally around 5% of the original quantity of the herb.

Medicinal Properties

Guduchi Satva is an efficient Ayurvedic formulation that keeps the Vata and Pitta balanced, possessing detox, anti-inflammatory, hematogenic (helps in formation of red blood cells) anti-gout, immunomodulator, blood purifier, antioxidant, carminative etc. properties that help in managing various conditions of the body.

It being immunomodulator improves the immunity of the body that enhances the body defense system to fight against infections. It can lessen body aches.

This Ayurvedic medicine is very useful in lowering body temperature chronic fever, viral fever, and malarial fever, due to its anti-pyretic effect and also reduces burning sensation in fever.

It provides relief from burning sensation of feet and benefits in gout troubles also.

It is even helpful in managing bleeding diseases etc., as in case of nasal bleeding, bleeding per rectum, menorrhagia, Pthisis, emaciation, improve the body strength.

It is beneficial in improving liver functions, can manage the jaundice in a patient.

It has ability to provide relief from acidity, improves digestion and reduces inflammation in gastritis, heal the mouth ulcer. It relieves the condition of excessive thirst.

Dosage

Consume about 500 mg to 1 g 1-2 times per day, before or after having meals, or as recommended by Ayurvedic doctor.
