Abstract
Kamdudha ras is an ayurvedic rasa aushadhi (mineral formulation) mentioned in classical texts. It is commonly indicated in pittaja and raktaja roga. The main reference of kamdudha ras is amlapitta but along with that it is also indicated in most of the pittaja and raktja roga. It possess several properties like sheeta (cold potency), rakta prasaadak (purifies blood), hridya (promotes heart health), pitta shamaka (pacifies pitta), dhatu vardhak (nourishes body tissues), balya (promotes strength). Introduction

Kamdudha Ras – Ingredients, Preparation And Their Therapeutic Uses

Pratham Kamdudha Ras
It is prepared with suvarna gairik (Silicate of Alumina and Iron oxide) and amla swaras (Emblica officinalis). In this preparation swarna gairik is heated at a mild heat after that it is processed with amla swaras for 7 or 21 times then make it dry.
Uses of Pratham Kamdudha Ras – When given in a dose of 6 ratti (0.72 gm) with equal amount of shakkar (jaggery), ghee or honey promotes haemoglobin levels. Also cure number of pittaja roga along with prameha (Diabetes mellitus), pradara (Leucorrhoea), pandu (anaemia), kamla (jaundice), excessive burning sensation, excessive thirst and many other ptta-raktaja roga.
Dvitiya Kamdudha Ras
The ingredients used in this preparation are guduchi satva (Tinospora cordifolia), swarna gairik (Silicate of Alumina and Iron oxide) and abhrak bhasma (calx of mica). Make fine powder of all the ingredients and mix it well.
Uses of Dvitiya Kamdudha Ras – It is used in the dose of 0.5 gm. If it is given along with go dugdha (cow’s milk) and rabdi or rice water and rabdi then it is beneficial in pradara (Leucorrhoea). In pitta aggravation it can be given along with ghee and rabdi.
Tritya Kamdudha Ras
Tritya kamdudha ras is widely used and includes several ingredients like mukta bhasma (calx of pearl), praval bhasma (calx of coral), mukta shukti (pearl oyster), Kapardika (Cowrie shells), swarna gairik (Silicate of Alumina and Iron oxide), and guduchi satva (Tinospora cordifolia). Amlapitta
“Amlam ch pittam amla pittam” which means when pitta dosha becomes amliya then the condition is known as amlapitta. Amlapitta is correlated to hyperacidity. It is a lifestyle disorder mainly occurs due to increase in pitta dosha which occurs due to excessive consumption of amla (sour) food, excessive alcohol intake, heavy and slimy food that causes obstruction in food channels, over eating, food which takes time to digest and produce acid, eating over indigestion, suppression of natural urge. Amlapitta is of two types- urdavaga amlapitta in which kapha dosha is associated which includes symptoms like vomitus of yellow, green, black colour, acid eructations, heartburn, headache, anorexia, itching, fever, boils and rashes. Adhoga amlapitta is associated with pitta dosha and symptoms include fainting, burning sensation, polydipsia, confusion, delusion, nausea, indigestion, sweating, horripilation and yellow tinge of the body.
Benefits of Kamdudha Ras in Amlapitta – The main ingredient that helps in curing amlapitta is sudha varga (kaparda, mukta shukti and many others mentioned above). Raktapitta

And the third one is ubhya margi raktapitta in which symptoms of both urdhva and adhoga raktapitta are included.

Hridroga

Atisara
“Atisarnata saara atiara” which means excessive expulsion of drava mala (watery stools) is known as atisara. Ati means excessive and saar means watery. As per modern it is correlated to diarrhoea and as per ayurvedic aspect its main cause is food heavy to digest, excessive oily food, excessive hot food, excessive liquid diet, excessive cold potency substance, indigestion, undercooked food, excessive water intake, excessive alcohol intake, fear, depression, suppression of natural urge like urination, defecation, etc, worm infestations, piles. Symptoms of atisara depends upon its types and its total types are 6 according to acharya charaka- vataja atisara includes watery stools of aruna varna (reddish colour), forty, dry and expel in less and small quantity through rectum frequent times. Pittaja atisara have pitta predominating symptoms like watery stool of yellow, blue, red, black in colour and smelly. Along with that, the patient feels daha (burning sensation in anal region), trishna (thirst), murcha (faintness), sarvanga daha (burning sensation in all body parts), excessive sweating, and fever. In kaphaja atisara patients have watery stools same as in pittaja atisara and along with that includes symptoms such as thirst, pain, burning in anal region. In sannipataja atisara tridoshas are involved and the symptoms that occur in this type of atisara include symptoms among above mentioned three types of atisara. Bhayaja and shokaja atisara both are having same types of symptoms like vataja atisara.

Mukhapaka
