Mahanarayana Thailam (Oil) – Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

Introduction

Mahanarayana Thailam (Oil) is an ayurvedic formulation. This formulation is formulated from the mixture of herbs. This oil is useful in many ailments related to joints, eyes, physiological problems and is an aphrodisiac also.

Ingredients

Following ingredients up to 12 grams:-

  1. Bilva – Bael (root) – Aegle marmelos
  2. Ashwagandha – Withania somnifera
  3. Brihati(badi kateri) – Solanum indicum
  4. Gokhru – Tribulus terrestris
  5. Sona patha – Oroxylum indicum
  6. Khareti – Sida cordifolia
  7. Paribhadra – Erythrina variegate
  8. Choti kateri – Solanum xanthocarpum
  9. Punarnava mool – Boerhaavia diffusa
  10. Atibala – Abutilon indicum
  11. Agnimantha – Premna corymbosa / mucronata Root
  12. Prasarini – Paederia foetida
  13. Patala – Trumpet (root) – Sterospermum suaveolens
  14. Taila – Oil of Sesamum indicum – 6.144 kg
  15. Ajadugdha – Goat milk – 6.144 liters
  16. Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus – juice extract – 6.144 liters
  17. Paste prepared with 96 g of fine powder of each of:-

  52. Vacha – Acorus calamus
  53. Sthauneya – Clerodendrum infortunatum
  54. Vrishchikali – Boerhavia erecta
  55. Choraka – Angelica glauca
  56. Karpoora – Cinnamomum camphora – 48 g
  57. Kesar– Crocus sativus – 48 g
  58. Mrigamada – Musk – 48 g

Method of Preparation

  • First of all take the ingredients from number 1 to 13.
  • Now make its decoction.
  • After making decoction, strain the liquid.
  • Now take the ingredients number 14th, 15th and 16th and mixed with other ingredients from number 17th to 54th to make kalka.
  • Now pour all the containers in a container and cook to make oil.
  • On completion, strain the liquid and add other left ingredients from number 55 to 57.
  • On adding these the oil is prepared.

Usage

  • For external use: For massage, given as nasya or in other ayurvedic treatments such as Anuvasana basti and Janubasti etc.
  • For oral use: 3 to 5 ml, one to two times a day, before food with warm water or milk.
