Patola Churna – Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

Introduction

Patola churna is a single herbal formulation prepared using a blend of Patola (Trichosanthes dioica). This formulation is very effective as it is prepared using ancient time tested formulas under the guidance of expert Planet Ayurveda practitioners.

1. Patola

Patola is also known as Patola, Tikta, Rajiphala, Pratika, Kushthaha, Parvara, Karkashacchada, Kulaka, Nagappala,Lulka, Panduka, Amritphala, Meki, Tiktottama, etc. It has tikta (Bitter) rasa, laghu (light) , ruksha guna (Dry properties) and ushna veerya (Hot potency). Patola mainly balances kapha and pitta dosha. Classically it is indicated as Triptighana (Reliexes feeling of satiation) and trishna nigrehana (Relieves excessive thirst).

Method of Preparation

  • Take fresh leaves of trichosanthes dioica and wash them properly.
  • Now dry them in the sunlight until they get fully soaked.
  • Then make a powder with dry leaves of patola.
  • Store it in a airtight container.

Dosage

1-3gm per day with lukewarm water after meals.
