Patrangasava – Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

It is an Ayurvedic medicine which is mainly used in the gynecological conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding, leucorrhea and fever etc. This herbal product is prepared by the combination of various herbs which are quite beneficial to hormonal irregularities. Herbs like Patranga, Khadira, Vasa, Shalmalikusuma, Bala, Bhallataka, Sariva, Japakusuma, Amrasthi, Jeeraka, Bilva, etc are used in the preparation of Patrangasava.

Method of preparation
- Fine powder of all the above mentioned herbs is made.
- This powder is added in the water, added madhu and sharkara in a container.
- The container is kept closed for 15-25 days.
- Fermentation takes place and Asava is ready.
- Contents are filtered and stored in hygienic conditions.
Dosage
10-20ml, once or twice a day, after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
Indications
- Urinary antiseptic and astringent.
- Leucorrhea and svetapradara.
- Menorrhagia or Raktapradara.
- Fever.
- Anemia.
- Poor appetite and assimilation.
Though this medicine is used primarily in female’s complication. But it is also useful in many other diseases like inflammatory conditions, low digestion power and anorexia.
Contradiction
- If one have irregular prolonged cycle, then don’t take this medicine.
- Very high dose may cause burning sensation.
