This is what most people connect with Chandigarh Horse Show – the region’s first annual horse show. Here at the traditional showgrounds at The Ranch, New Chandigarh, the top equestrian athletes of India meet up to contest against each other in the three disciplines of jumping, dressage, and tent pegging. Spurred by last year’s incredible response, we expect to have around 20,000 visitors at this year’s events, coming to the Ranch to enjoy the top-class sport as well as the spectacular supporting programmes.
3rd Chandigarh Horse Show is going to be held on March 16-17 at Forest Hills, Nayagaon (Chandigarh). Around 150 horse riders will participate in it. Punjab State Tent Pegging Championship and Horse Jumping is being organized in the show. In this, the champion player will be given state certificate, Major Rantir Singh and Bhai Dharam Singh trophy along with cash prizes.
There are two rounds in the show. The first round will start at 9 am with tent pegging game which will continue till 11 am. The second round will be played from 4 to 5 pm. The second show, horse jumping, will run from 9 am to 7 pm. Similar games will continue on the second day on March 17, in which the final matches will be held. A Carnival is also being organized in the show, in which shopping, food stalls and art and craft stalls will be set up.
According to Harjinder Khosla, co-founder of The Ranch Forest Hill, said that two different horsemanship championships are being organized on March 16-17. In this, Punjab State Championship of Tent Pegging is being organized by Punjab Horse Horse Association. In this, a trophy will be given to the champion, while there will be a horse jumping game. Players from different states will participate with horses in both these games. This program will be under the supervision of Punjab Government.
