What is Stone-Root?

Stone-Root is an effective Ayurvedic perennial herb in the mint family that has a strong and unpleasant smell and used to treat urinary tract infections.

The botanical name of the Stone-Root is Collinsonia canadensis and it belongs to family Lamiaceae and its higher classification is Collinsonia.

Its other names are Knob Root, Knob Grass, Hardhack, Horse Weed, Heal-all, Rich Weed, Rich leaf.

It is widely spread primarily east of the Mississippi River, in eastern North America.

The natural habitat of the Stone-Root is nutrient-rich mesic forest, mostly in calcareous and rocky areas.

What are the Medicinal uses of Stone-Root?

Here are some medicinal uses of Stone-Root:

  1. This is most effective in kidney stones, piles, and rheumatoid arthritis.
  2. It acts as an anti-spasmodic, diuretic, vasodilator, spasmodic, diaphoretic and tonic.
  3. Also useful in the treatment of piles, diarrhea, indigestion etc.
  4. It is proved beneficial in the treatment of varicose veins, irritable bowel syndrome, and mucus colitis.
  5. Its roots and leaves poultices are used in sprains, sores, bruises, and burns.
  6. It is also used in increasing urine flow and to relieve water retention etc.

Kidney Stones

Stone-Root acts as a diuretic, Anti-inflammatory. It helps the patients to pass urine. It also treats other conditions like High blood pressure, edema and glaucoma. This herb is very effective in treatment of kidney stones and provides relief. The whole plant is very useful in urinary conditions.

Bladder Inflammation

This herb acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant, that provides relief from pain and helps in relaxing bladder that results in reducing inflammation in the bladder and promotes urination.

Water Retention (edema)
